The Astro lava lamp has been in continuous production in Poole, Dorset, England since 1963.

From the 60s to the present day Mathmos lava lamps have been part of the set of several bands. Shown here in the 90s with the British band Stereophonics.

This range of classic 1963 Astro lava lamps is inspired by vinyl records, the music medium of the 1960s still loved and collected today. Skilled British craftsmen spin the metal, expertly etch grooves by hand and finally give it a shiny black anodised finish to achieve the vinyl-like effect. This best-selling lamp is presented with a unique box design. In Australia, the Vinyl range comes with a regular white power lead.
